Hypothallus white, confluent. Peridium double, the outer layer calcareous, fragile, the inner layer delicate, often iridescent, yellowish or orange below. Columella globose, large, ochraceous to deep orange. Capillitium abundant, persisting long after dehiscence, threads 1-3 µm diam., sparsely branched and anastomosed, purplish with bead-like swellings and pale tips. Spore-mass black.
