Overview
Sporocarps sessile, clustered, 0.6-1 mm diam., pinkish-grey to reddish-brown. Hypothallus inconspicuous. Peridium double, the outer layer cartilaginous, smooth, separate from the inner, membranous layer which is grey or iridescent. Columella small, often no more than a thickened, reddish base to the sporotheca. Capillitium scanty, the threads pale violet or colourless but always with reddish-brown bases where they are attached to the columella, there giving the appearance of long spines. Spore-mass black. Spores dark brown, spinulose, 12-13 µm diam. Plasmodium white.
