Overview
Sporocarps sessile, densely crowded, dingy flesh-coloured to dark reddish brown, often mottled, hemispherical or pulvinate on a constricted base, 0.5-1 mm diam. Peridium double, the outer layer crustose, calcareous, thick, fragile, somewhat paler within, the inner layer membranous, closely appressed, colourless or sometimes flecked with white limey patches. Columella large, up to 0.5 mm diam., subglobose to hemispherical, rugose to tuberculate, with calcareous processes which sometimes reach the peridium, cream to flesh-coloured. Capillitium rigid, radiating from the columella and attached to the peridium, the threads dark brown at the base, becoming paler distally where they are pale brown or pallid, sparsely branched and anastomosed, sometimes with membranous axillary expansions. Spore-mass black. Spores dark brown, paler on one side, spinulose, 14-16 µm diam. Plasmodium unknown.
