Didymium quitense
Overview
Myxocarps gregarious or scattered, white, forming pulvinate, depressed sporocarps, 0.4-1 mm diam., the base rarely narrowed and stalk-like, varying to plasmodiocarps up to 5 mm long. Peridium double, the outer layer slightly roughened, composed of small, closely compacted lime crystals, remote from the thin, membranous, bluish, iridescent inner wall. Capillitium rather sparse, the threads yellow-brown, of nearly uniform size and diam., profusely branched and anastomosed and forming a net. Spore-mass black. Spores very dark purplish brown, strongly warted, the warts ± united to form an imperfect or sometimes a rather pronounced reticulate pattern, (12-)13-14(-15) µm diam. Plasmodium unknown.
