Lamproderma fuscatum
Overview
Sporocarps loosely clustered. Sporothecae globose. ferrugineous, 1.0-1.5 mm diam., only slightly iridescent. Stalk shiny black, tapered slightly, about 1 mm long. Peridium membranous, thick, firm, persistent, splitting irregularly, but persisting as a basal cup. Hypothallus well-developed, discoid, thin, transparent, often merging at the margins into adjacent hypothalli, reddish brown. Columella black, tapered upwards, c. 50% of the height of the sporotheca. Capillitium forming a network with abundant sharp, pointed, free ends, uniformly ferrugineous throughout, not hyaline at the apices, the threads of uniform thickness, c. 2 µm diam., typically not expanded in the axils. Spore-mass ferrugineous. Spores pale violet-brown, spinulose, 8-10 µm diam. Plasmodium unknown. Nivicole.
