Overview
Sporocarps widely scattered, sessile on a broad base and attached firmly to the substrate over the entire lower surface, extremely flattened or rarely slightly pulvinate, usually angular or sometimes orbicular to slightly ovoid, 0.1-0.3(-0.5) mm diam., dark brown to purple or occasionally almost black. Hypothallus absent. Peridium single, thick, brittle, smooth, impregnated with small amounts of granular refuse matter, usually dull, but occasionally slightly iridescent, often translucent when refuse matter is sparse, divided into 3-6 lobes by distinct raised ridges which are more glossy and darker than the remainder of the peridium, generally indehiscent or the entire peridium acting as a lid and dehiscing in mass, very rarely the lobes dehiscing along the raised ridges, the lobe margins marked by rows of small papillae 1-3 µm diam., the papillae becoming progressively smaller away from the margins. Spore-mass shiny golden brown. Spores very pale yellow, the wall often thinner and paler on one side, apparently perfectly smooth, 11-13 µm diam. Plasmodium unknown. On decaying leaves of Eucalyptus.
