NEOCONGER
SPAGHETTI EELS
Elongate, worm-like, strongly compressed near tail; head conical, pointed overhanging snout; eye small; teeth small, conical, 1-2 rows on jaws; nostrils non-tubular, rear one a little in front of middle of eye; dorsal begins a little before anus; median fins continuous, low, fleshy, confluent with well developed tail fin; body and tail about same length; pectoral present, small, behind top of vertical, lateral gill opening; lateral line on body to level of anus, with pores on lower jaw.
The tropical genus, has 3 species, one in the tropical west Atlantic, one endemic to our region and one in eastern Australia.
