This genus of large, aggressive ants is referred to in the vernacular as "hantik".
This species was named after Charles S. Banks, who was appointed the Chief Entomologist of the Bureau of Science, Manila in 1902.

Natural history |
This ant is locally dominant where it occurs. It forages on the ground and also climbs branches and foliage to about a meter off the ground.

General collecting, beating of low vegetation, leaf litter sifting.
