Physarum citrinum
Overview
Plasmodium yellow. Sporocarps gregarious or scattered, stalked. Stalk calcareous, stout, erect, furrowed, tapered upwards, yellow, opaque, very short to 60% the total height. Sporotheca subglobose, somewhat flattened below, 0.4-0.7 mm diam., bright ochraceous to pale yellow or pallid, rarely sessile. Peridium thin, almost completely covered with small, calcareous scales. Columella small, ± conical, yellow, sometimes lacking or replaced by a pseudocolumella. Capillitium dense, delicate, the nodes numerous, small, rounded, yellow, the connecting threads hyaline, rigid, with many junctions nodeless. Spore-mass black. Spores violaceous, minutely punctate, 8-10 µm diam.
