Physarum echinosporum
Overview
Forming white, laterally compressed, elongate plasmodiocarps. Peridium double, the outer layer smooth, calcareous, the inner layer membranous, pale purple, iridescent. Dehiscence by means of a preformed apical split. Capillitium consisting of dense white, angular nodes, connected by short hyaline tubules. Spore-mass black. Spores purple, 10-12 µm diam., conspicuously spinose, the spines sometimes united into ridges. Plasmodium unknown.
