Overview
Sporocarps 7-9 mm tall, in rather dense clusters, sometimes forming a pseudoaethalium. Sporothecae slender, cylindric, ± recumbent, deep fuscous, polished, 25-33% of the total height. Stalk black. Columella dark, marked by obscure spirals, not attaining the apex. Capillitium dark, with coppery or bronze iridescence, of stout branches, often with flat membranous expansions in the axils, the surface net irregular, with many large meshes and free ends. Spore-mass nearly black. Spores pale sooty brown, firmly united in clusters of 4-12 or more, often irregular in shape, the exposed surface distinctly warted, the remainder smooth, occasionally free, and then globose and more uniformly warted, 8-10 µm diam. Plasmodium white.
