Overview
Sporocarps stalked, rarely sessile, subglobose or ± pyriform, scattered to gregarious, total height 0.8-1.5 mm. Sporotheca dull tawny brown, 0.4-0.8 mm diam., without strongly marked dehiscence lines but with thin areas in the peridium which suggest them. Stalk short, stout, dark brown or black, rarely over half the total height. Peridium double, the inner hyaline membrane closely attached to the outer cartilaginous layer, from which it may become separated. Capillitium and spore-mass bright straw-yellow, elaters cylindric, 4-6 µm diam. with 4 rather uneven, smooth spirals, ending in abrupt, often curved tips. Spores yellow, minutely roughened, 11-15 µm diam. Plasmodium chocolate brown.
