Overview
Protoplasmodia and sclerotia orange. Sporocarps subglobose to hemispheric, sessile on a broad base, greyish brown to dark brown to black, 0.2-0.3 mm diam. Peridium dehiscing from above by irregular lobes, consisting of 3 adherent layers, the outer layer fragile to ± firm and cartilaginous, dark and opaque from abundant refuse matter, sometimes separating from the inner layers, the middle layer, membranous, smooth, colourless, translucent, refractive, c. 2.0-2.5 µm thick, the inner layer membranous, very thin, pale yellowish brown, closely and minutely papillose on the inner surface. Spore-mass orange or reddish orange fading to pinkish ochraceous. Spores globose or ovate, closely and minutely papillose, the papillae arranged in a ± reticulate pattern, (13.5-)14.5-15.5 µm diam.
