Overview
Sandy Creek Nature Center
is a gateway to outdoor exploration, featuring 225 acres of woodlands and wetlands. Discover Life is partnering with
Athens-Clarke County Department of Leisure Services and the University of Georgia to build a biodiversity observation site at Sandy Creek.
As we outline in the proposals below, our goals are to teach science and empower our local community to
generate the knowledge that society needs to understand and solve pressing environmental issues. In April, 2013, we
launched
a permanent mothing site at the Walker Hall to document using photography
the nightly flight activity of over 1,100 local moth species.
Please join us in this effort.
